Harbour Ward Energy Project
We initiated this project in conjunction with Colchester Borough Council to carry out a trial survey of energy use and potential savings for 100 homes in one of the borough's deprived wards.
A fuel poor household is defined as one needing to spend in excess of 10% of its household income on all fuel use to achieve a satisfactory standard of warmth. The survey will involve 2 visits to each participating household and provide:
- a report on the energy efficiency of the house
- offer advice on energy savings
- provide some energy saving devices
- assistance with grant applications to help meet the cost of properly insulating the property
This survey is part of the Government's “Decent Homes” initiative and has been funded by Colchester Borough Council and the Chiron Fund managed by Essex Community Foundation.
