Re>Paint Scheme
This scheme aims to divert over 22 tonnes of reusable paint away from the waste stream each year towards people on low incomes, community projects, schools and parish councils. We tried to introduce the scheme 2 years ago, but were unable to find the necessary funding. Since then the Lottery's CRED programme has agreed to fund the project for 3 years. Additional funding for 2005 has been secured from a successful grant application to Community Re>Paint.
The scheme will operate from civic amenity sites in Clacton and Colchester, where the public will be able to leave unwanted, but usable, paint. TREE in Clacton and the Bright Ideas Scrap Store in Colchester will sort and redistribute the paint free of charge.
The scheme started in November 2005 and will enhance the growing recycling initiatives in Colchester and Tendring. The project enjoys the full support and partnership of Essex County Council, TREE and Bright Ideas Scrap Store.
