Environment Centres Town & County Environment centres are normally set up to cover a range of environmental issues. They are all slightly different depending on local circumstances but they can include visitor centres, education services, a wide range of projects and act as an umbrella organisation.

Ipswich Furniture Project Suffolk, Ipswich The Ipswich Furniture Project is a charitable organisation who collect furniture items (that adhere to the fire regulations) which they then pass on to low income families for a nominal amount.
The Project also collect redundant metal appliances e.g. fridges and cookers which they then recycle for scrap metal.

Newport Wastesavers   Recycling furniture and white goods and providing kerbside collections.
Scrapstores   Scrapstores collect various items of waste from local businesses that are then made available to schools, nurseries and playgroups as craft and play materials. They operate in a number of ways , one of which is to charge its members a fee.

Ipswich- Suffolk Scrap Store Suffolk The Suffolk Scrap Store collects and stores a range of unwanted material to be used as art and craft materials by schools, playgroups and other organisations.

The project's workforce comprises adults with learning difficulties and is non-profit making. If you are a business who wishes to donate material, a group who would like to subscribe or if you want further information then contact:

Swindon Childrens Scrapstore   Non profit Charitable organisation. Items available free of charge to voluntary groups for education and play. Has over 350 groups using the service.

Waste Exchanges   A waste exchange is a service that operates very well over the internet. They attempt to match producers of waste with those that can put various waste items to use.
Bedfordshire Waste Exchange   Free excahange for Bedfordshire Area
DETR Materials Information Exchange   Free exchange - allows the construction industry to buy and sell used, second hand and un-utilised construction materials.
Hampshire Waste Exchange   This is a site set up for Hampshire but as part of project integra it also contains a directory of organisations recycling different materials. As these organisations are not necessarily based in Hampshire it is useful for anyone in the UK.
Northamptonshire Waste Exchange   Simple design but membership fees of £50 to £100 required.
Northern Ireland   Easy to navigate, Fast and Free
Northern Disposal   Free, good designed but few items listed.
Staffordshire & West Midlands Waste Exchange   Free waste exchange for the Staffordshire area.
Waste Exchange UK   Complicated site and membership fees from £45 to £500. Attempting to set up locally based schemes throughout the UK.
Waste-Exchange.org   Free service. Operated by Arena Network (the broker) and supported by Environment Agency Wales.
Tipton Community Enterprise Limited   Free service very attractive layout but doesn't quite fit smaller screens.
