Objectives and work of group Essex Wildlife Trust exists to preserve our local Wildlife and countryside. It does this through:
  • Owning and managing local nature reserves. (It currently has 92 reserves covering 7500 acres of land throughout Essex.)
  • Education - The trust offers an excellent Education service with wildlife courses, school services and watch groups.
  • Changing attitudes amongst decision makers at local level and at National level through The Wildlife Trusts.
  • carries out species protection
  • provides conservation advice
  • runs events such as talks and reserve open days
National Contact Details Essex Wildlife Trust is the Essex member of the Wildlife Trusts which is a partnership of 46 county wildlife trusts. It is the biggest Wildlife protection organisation in Essex.

What we do: The Colchester group supports the Essex Wildlife Trust by assisting with conservation work on local nature reserves, fundraising, providing a monthly programme of talks and walks and monitoring local planning applications.
Volunteers for a wide range of tasks are always wanted.
Work parties are held each Sunday morning from October to early April on at least one of our local reserves.

Essex Wildlife Trust (EWT)
It is a self-supporting charity and is linked to the Royal Society for Nature Conservation. Conservation work by the local group is carried out on local EWT reserves.
